Last night the 56th Melbourne International Film Festival launched with a bang at the Regent Theatre and the Australian premiere of Mike Moore's new polemic, Sicko. A special mention needs to be made of the surprise opening short, Remember My Name, which added a wonderfully Melbourne touch before we launched into the evils of the American health care industry.
It's a great line-up this year and we'll be writting up our highlights as we watch them.
And don't forget our two very special late-night screenings of Alejandro Jodorowsky's surreal masterpieces.
El Topo - Friday, 3 August at 11.15pm
