There have been some concerns raised about some of our non-anamorphic Shaw Brothers titles and whether or not they have been cropped. The short answer is no, they have not been cropped.

The masters for our Shaw Brothers catalogue are supplied by Celestial and they do not offer anamorphic masters for all their releases.

However, where a 2.35:1 movie master is not available in anamorphic form they are NOT centre cut to 4:3. Their integrity is maintained in that the whole 2.35:1 ratio is presented, that is, all picture content remains, albeit in letterbox 4:3. A far better solution than a centre cut 4:3 where picture content is eliminated.

When non anamorphic masters were supplied to us, we always went back to Celestial to check that this was the only option available. We made sure that we obtained the best masters that we could for every release.
