Filmmaker Eddie Martin has followed up his highly-acclaimed debut JISOE with a landmark, career-spanning appraisal of Australian sporting icon Lionel Rose's life and legacy. Combining a remarkable selection of archival and present day observational footage and interviews, LIONEL explores the unprecedented rise of a mythic sporting figure-turned-national hero, recounting the triumphs and struggles of one man’s journey through a remarkable life.

In a World Premiere event as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival, LIONEL will screen at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image this Saturday, August 2 at 5:00 PM, followed by a Q&A with Eddie Martin and Producer Lizzette Atkins.

In addition, Siren Visual and Circe Films are very pleased to announce that Lionel Rose will be in attendance for the screening, along with many of his family and longtime supporters.
