  • THIS WEEK? WASH-OUT...

    26 Apr 2012

Back into gear (sorta - its been a funny week) again post-Supanova - big thanks to our rabid fans on the Gold Coast who made last weekend's festival such a big success! Easily one of our biggest yet and we hope you'll drop by and say hello when we hit Brisbane later this year.

Apologies to our pre-order customers for this one and this one - we've finally received our stock and these are heading out to you today via jetbag (express post) so that you'll have them for the two-day wash-out (wet weekend). Enjoy a different type of aquatic weatherscape with ARIA. Give yourself the willies with a When They Cry marathon. Extra bits n' pieces included, so enjoy.

Melbourne film fans should keep an eye out for this season's Astor theatre program, with some Siren titles appearing over the coming months at the historic St Kilda cinema. We'll be giving away passes to select screenings via our facebook page as well as DVD's and other cool do-dads over the coming weeks n' months, so if you haven't 'liked' us yet...why not?

  • SUPANOVA GOLD COAST!

    18 Apr 2012

The first ever Gold Coast leg of the Supanova festival kicks off this weekend! Drop by our booth for a HUGE DVD clearance - tons of ye olde horror, vintage exploitation, arthouse and titles of the bygone Siren era - it's almost like a visual history of our comany in the form of DVD's! The response to this at last week's Melbourne Supanova was great so if you're heading along to the Gold Coast festival, come prepared to browse...

  • THE TIME IS ANNOUNCEMENT TIME.........

    13 Apr 2012

We flaked on it last week, but here's some good news to get you pumped for the weekend...

    SHIKI

Some crafty folk somehow predicted this a couple of weeks ago, but here it is from the official channel: we're releasing Part 1 of Shiki in August.

Looking for a sinister series ala Higurashi? This one will ease your rural horror itch. More twisted than a broken slinky, Shiki is set to blow this year's dual-language anime releases into the ether. Yes, it'll have a dub. We've managed to secure this one on Blu-ray, too. Don't ask us how, it just happened! Sometimes what you don't know is for your own good.  Stay tuned...

    THERMAE ROMAE

Another in our noitaminA range, this short historical comedy series comes with extra weird-sauce. A time travelling Roman architect stuck for ideas ends up in a modern-day Japanese bath-house and learns a lot about male hygiene. Better believe it!

Totally obscure and oddball in practically every sense, Thermae Romae is another exclusive Region 4-only noitaminA release from Siren and will be released along with a slew of extras in July.

It begins again for another year. Keep an eye out for us at Supanova in Melbourne this weekend and sweating it out for the first time on the Gold Coast next weekend. Drop by our booth and say hi!

  • TUESDAY NIGHT ANIME @ ROBOT!

    03 Apr 2012

Looking for a drink/snack/anime fix after work or uni? Melbourne's best kept secret bar (with cover now completely blown) Robot are playing anime courtesy of Siren on Tuesday evenings!

Robot is THE relaxed Japanese bar for Melbournians. It's tucked away in Bligh Place, just off Elizabeth St and right near the great Hako restaurant. Its been a stalwart of the Melbourne CBD bar scene for many years and even though the Atari machines may have gone (there's still some vintage table-top games upstairs for those looking for a few rounds of 1942), the atmosphere remains chilled. Most importantly, the bar is well stocked.

You can catch RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne tonight and over the next few weeks. Check their website for an upcoming screening schedule and for news on their latest addition to their range of sake.
