Tracing the genesis of Ichi's inner rage and detailing the previously untouched history of his schooldays and interaction with his parents, this joyfully excessive anime provides a unique insight into the main themes of the live-action adventure, in much the same way as 'The Animatrix' illuminated the origins of the much celebrated 'Matrix Trilogy.' Fans will delight in the fact that Takashi Miike, the director of Ichi the Killer (Live Action) and 'Audition,' provides the voice of the pivotal character of Kakihara.
